THE CAUSES OF ROAD ACCIDENTS

      Not a single day passes off these days without the news of road accidents claiming lives of the people. In Malaysia, it represents a major public problem because of the high number of victims involved and also the seriousness of the consequences for the victim themselves and to their families as well. There are various causes of road accidents, some of which include bad roads, drunk driving, distracted driving, driving under the influence of drugs and night driving.

      Firstly, there are many bad roads. Highway maintenance is very important. However, many roads exhibit unsafe conditions like pot holes and uneven pavement can and do lead to serious car accidents by throwing a driver off course and out of control of the vehicle. Secondly, the driver is drunk when driving the vehicle. When the driver drunk, he lose the ability to focus and function properly and it’s very dangerous when operating a vehicle. Driving under the influence of alcohol causes car accidents. Drinking impairs the driver senses of vision and hearing and also results in decreased muscle coordination and slower reaction times.

      Thirdly, the driver is distracted when driving the vehicle. There are some common driver distractions such as talking on cell phone, sending text messages, eating food, reading a book and reaching for a moving object inside the vehicle. The driver diverts his attention from the road will cause road accident. Fourthly, driving under the influence of drugs also can cause road accident. It’s not only alcohol that is dangerous when mixed with drivers on the road. Drugs, both legal and illegal, can impair people ability to fully function as a driver. If the driver mind isn’t clear and he doesn’t have complete control over his body, getting behind the wheel can lead to serious car accidents.

      Lastly, one of the causes of road accidents is night driving. Driving in the daylight can be hazardous, but driving at night nearly doubles the risk of a road accident occurring. Since people ability to perceive and judge distance is severely impaired at night, the human eye requires light to see. While people eyes are capable of seeing in limited light, the combination of headlights and road lights, with the darkness beyond them, can cause several problems for the driver vision.

      In conclusion, there are numerous reasons for car accidents but by far the most common is driver error.  Thousands of car accidents occur every day resulting in death or serious injury to drivers, passengers, and pedestrians. Bad roads, drunk driving, distracted driving, driving under the influence of drugs and night driving are some of the causes of road accidents.

THE NEGATIVE EFFECT OF FACEBOOK

       Facebook is a social networking website intended to connect friends, family, and business associate. Facebook has quickly become one of the most popular social networking websites on the internet. These days it’s not only available on a computer but through most mobile devices like cell phones and ‘I-Phones’. And like all things that become so popular, it has developed some downsides. There are some of negative effects of facebook such as addictive, bad health, privacy blow up and many more.

      Firstly, facebook is quite addictive especially to student nowdays. The main thing that addictive on facebook is all of the games that are available. There are literally hundreds of game applications in facebook account. The student will find themselves spending hours upon hours playing games against their friends instead of doing homework or spending time with family. When the student already addictive to facebook, they also forget about their duty as student and finally reduce the time for study.

      Secondly, it brings a bad health to users who are spent a long time on facebook. The users that already addictive will reduce their physical activity. They only sit in front of the monitor chatting or playing games that can cause them eyes problems. The users also can get hands and finger problems after spent time typing on keyboard. It also brings to obesity as one of the negative effect of facebook.

      Lastly, negative effect of facebook is how accessible it makes to the users. Once the users have signed up for a facebook account they have made themselves completely exposed to the world. They should never ever put their personal data in detail, especially in a social site like facebook. The users can be stalk and be intimidated by bad people. The bad people will have an easy access to do it through facebook.

      In conclusion, facebook is one of social networks that most of today’s Internet users are active in. Facebook gives many negatives effect to the users as a source of destruction that can turn facebook users into real social networking addicts. It also gives bad health to the users that addictive and makes the users privacy blows out.

MOVIE COMMENT (FROM PARIS WITH LOVE)

The title of this movie is “From Paris with Love”. This movie is about James Reece has a job as a low-level operative for the CIA. His hoping to get into black ops and for the first time he been offered a senior-level assignment. He got a new partner, special agent Charlie Wax who's been sent to Paris to stop a terrorist attack.

I think this story is not suitable for children under the age of 18 years. This story has many horrific actions. For me who like the action movie, this story is enjoyable. There are also a lot of suspense and funny scenes. The scenes I like the most when Wax have to chase a criminal car at highway. It is the most suspense scenes when he was about to be hit by trucks. For another reason I like this story is because I like to watch the movie the main actor act in. His act is good.

BENEFITS OF READING ENGLISH NEWSPAPER

Reading English newspaper by people in Malaysia is still in a low level especially English newspaper. English newspaper is not only providing information about what happened in our world but it also can help us to improve our English language. It gives many benefits to us such as improve general knowledge, enrich vocabulary and enhance our reading skills.

Firstly, by reading English newspaper, we can improve our knowledge in English language. It is an easy way if we want to learn by ourselves. By English newspaper, we can know very interesting things and important international news. When we read more, we can write better essays because our knowledge is adequate to provide interesting ideas to talk about. Shortly, reading English newspaper will not only upgrade our language ability but also become more knowledgeable.

Secondly, we can easily enrich our vocabulary by reading English newspaper. English newspaper contains many useful and common words. There are many vocabularies we don’t know what they mean, but we should guess their meanings skillfully and logically. If we still don’t know their meanings, we use the dictionary and recite the key words. By doing this, we can improve our English.

Lastly, we can enhance the reading skills we have. If we continue reading English newspaper, we can get used to English language. Besides that, it also helps us in writing skills. When we reading English newspapers, we can try to guess meanings between sentences, and try not to look up them in dictionary right away. By doing this we can increase our reading speed. We also will encounter the words several times to become familiar with them and know to use them in context. This is a good way to enhance reading skills in English language.

In conclusion, we have to keep reading the newspaper regularly as our daily habit. Reading English newspaper are one of the good things to spend on a free time beside it can open our mind and improve our general knowledge. Furthermore, it can enrich the vocabulary and enhance our reading skills. It also helps us practice rhetorical patterns of writing. Raising children without sufficient parenting skills can create a lot of problems to the children. The children will grow in uncomfortable environment. If the parents too busy with works, the children will yearns for attention. They may become very demanding if the parents didn’t care for them. The children might have less knowledge about world outside and religion belief if the parents didn’t educate them. They also will don’t know the right and wrong thing to do. Without proper upbringing the children will end up on the wrong side of the law. The future of the children might not bright.

SUPERSTITIONS IN ASIA

      A superstition is defined as "a belief founded on irrational feelings that do not have fact or reason to support them. Superstition is an irrational belief arising from ignorance or fear. There are superstitions for almost all aspects of our daily lives and most have unknown origins." Superstitions abound in all cultures throughout the world, and are as old as mankind. In Asia, there are too many superstitious that they believe it’s involving their life.

      First, some of superstitious beliefs are associated to women’s life. These beliefs show their old immature way of thinking. For example, they can guess the sex of baby by a dead male snake. It might seem to be a strange idea to inspect the future, but there are still many people practice it. So, after killing a male snake, they articulate the name of the pregnant while they are throwing the snake. So, if the snake falls on its back, the baby is going to be a girl. On the other hand, if it lies on the other side, the baby is going to be a boy. This superstitious belief is common among old rural uneducated women and they used to practice it mostly with children.

      Second, the superstitious about, if someone breaks a mirror, she would receive seven years bad luck. There was a superstition that originated about 100 years ago about a woman named Mary. One day she had a terrible accident and her face was scratched so badly that she bled to death but her spirit could not rest. Bloody Mary, as she is called, roams the earth as an evil spirit. So as the story goes, if someone stands in front of a mirror in the dark and say her name three times, that people will see her horribly mangled face appear.

      The last one is about the number seven. The number seven symbolizes “togetherness”. It is a lucky number for relationships. It is also recognized as the luckiest number in the West, and is one of the rare numbers that is great in both Chinese and many Western cultures. It is a lucky number in Chinese culture, because it sounds alike to the Chinese character that give meaning arise. But number seven also considered spirits or ghostly. The seventh month of the Chinese calendar is also called the “Ghost Month”. During July, Chinese people believe that the gates of hell are said to be open so ghosts and spirits are permitted to visit the living realm.

      In conclusion, these superstitions are merely for your general knowledge. Some sound silly, some are freaky while some look fun but they may or may not be true.
